Deployment scope

Identify the precise routing platform before selecting interfaces, fan trays or expansion modules. Document routing features, session and forwarding needs, interface media and current software. Select a supported platform/module combination and confirm the entitlements actually included in the offer. Plan cutover and cooling checks for the installed chassis.

Component decisions

ASR1001 and ASR1001-X are distinct products. ASR 1000, ASR 9000 and ISR modules belong to different platform ecosystems.
ASR1000-SIP40 is a SPA carrier. NIM-1GE-CU-SFP and NIM-2GE-CU-SFP dual-media choices must not be counted as twice the logical port count.
ASR-9006-FAN-V2 is the corrected fan-tray identifier. ASR1000-2T+20GE-C remains an inventory identifier requiring nameplate confirmation; do not silently rename it.

Acceptance plan

Confirm complete PIDs, modules and software support.
Validate routing, intended interface modes and required throughput under the planned features.
Check fan health and record a rollback configuration.

Configuration boundary

The ASR name covers platforms with different chassis, interfaces and software. A similar prefix is insufficient for a replacement decision. Match the entire identifier and the installed role; a fan tray, SPA carrier and router chassis must never share one generic specification template.
